PLEASE READ:

  • Finding us: Clients sometimes get lost the first time they come to the office, because it is at a non-traditional location and because GPS is inaccurate. Please be sure to read and follow the directions below to avoid getting lost and to arrive with enough time to settle prior to your appointment. Also, once on the property, please come in via the yellow doors marked East Entrance.
  • Scent-free offices: A number of our clients have chemical sensitivities, and we request that clients refrain from using perfume, cologne, or scented creams or other similar products when coming to their sessions. If it is possible to refrain from smoking prior to entering the building for your appointment, this is also appreciated.
  • If running late: Please call your therapist directly as opposed to the toll-free number, which goes directly to voicemail and your therapist may not receive the message until 1-2 days later. Your therapist’s direct number can be found on their page of this website.

Location

The Refuge: Centre for Healing and Recovery is located at the Orchard Park Office Centre on the grounds of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, where we offer psychotherapy and counselling services..

This office is centrally located to Wellington County, Waterloo, Kitchener, Fergus, Rockwood, and a short drive from Cambridge and Waterloo County. Instructions for using GPS, Google Maps and landmark-based directions are below.

Where is your building?

The office is situated on the peaceful grounds of the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in the Orchard Park office building, just outside of the Guelph city limits on a large country acreage. Orchard Park is the first, large brown brick building you will see as you drive up on your left, not easily visible from the road. For photos of what to look for, see below. If you keep driving past our building, you will end up at the parking lot for Loyola House Retreat Centre and its own dedicated parking lot. There are many walking trails accessible from this point on the property, and you are welcome to wander around in quiet contemplation before or following your appointment. To download a map of the trails, please click here: https://ignatiusguelph.ca/ignatius-land/trails-maps/

Do I have to pay for parking?

There is ample free parking on site out front of the Orchard Park office building, where we are located.

Which entrance do I take once at the building?

The office is on the 3rd floor, accessible via the East Entrance (yellow doors) facing the parking lot. Do not take the brown wooden main entrance doors, which do not offer access to the 3rd floor.

Is your office wheelchair accessible?

There is a wheelchair accessible elevator through the main entrance (brown wooden main lobby doors). Please contact us to discuss prior to our meeting.

Do you have a waiting area?

The majority of the offices in this building do not have their own dedicated waiting rooms, but you are welcome to sit in the hallway while waiting for your appointment. Out of respect for the privacy of the client before you, please arrive within 5 minutes of your appointment time. If the door is closed, your practitioner is in session or returning calls, and will be with you shortly. Feel free to make yourself comfortable in the meantime.

I never knew the Ignatius Centre existed! It’s such a big place. What else is on the property?

The Orchard Park office building in which we are situated is the former Jesuit college where priests once came to learn their vocation. It has since been repurposed into the home of numerous different businesses and programs, including a private school, outdoor preschool program, Julien Project horticultural therapy program, therapists and counsellors, a yoga studio, psychologists, speech pathologist, energy healers, and other alternative health professionals. The building is also home to the private offices of a number of agriculture-related organizations. For more information and photos about the history of the building, please visit: www.orchardparkcentre.ca/history.html

The property is larger than just the building where we are located, however, and also houses the Loyola House Retreat Centre, Ignatius Farm, the Ignatius Community Shared Agriculture, and the Ignatius Old Growth Forest. For more information, visit: www.ignatiusguelph.ca/index.html

OPTION B: Take Hespeler Road to Highway 32 North (further up from the Petro Canada on the right). There will be a FloChem plant and a Superior Propane (yellow signs) on the left.
